NASHVILLE MARKET REPORT
02/11/08
we went, we came back and all in all it was a good
trip...different than any market i have been to in nashville and this was my
12th. the weather cooperated - thankfully - and the planes in and out were
just great and most definitely on time...we all worked our behinds off but it
was over very quickly and we kept asking where the time had gone...and we still
can't find that time...it's not in any of the 4 boxes we sent home or the three
28" suitcases we brought home full of stuff that are now sitting on the
front tables and here in the back room...which we will attack and unload
tomorrow morning as we start to shovel.
so...because we have boxes enroute from nashville...we will
try and do the very best we can getting things out in a timely manner...i
promise. those boxes (with a good southern tailwind) should arrive by
friday at the very latest...and then we will be in full swing...and moving
too...and packing the pod...and it's going to be an amazing three weeks...as
long as we all survive it.
there were a lot of vendors missing this year - a lot of the
regulars were "mia" and that was very disappointing...but
unfortunately we are all getting into that period of our lives with parents and
or kids and or us...and sickness and family things get in the way...you were all
missed - please know that. despite it all we found some good things...and
in no particular order - because i can't find my show books - they are in one of
the suitcases or in annie's clothes suitcase...with the pricing guns and the
scotch tape...i will just whack away at this...and what i don't get put in -
we'll take care of with an update this coming presidents' day weekend.

where my heart blooms begins the 2008 series of Loose Feathers. AND -
there is a mystery - but you need to have all of the 2008 loose feathers charts
to take part in the mystery. from each of the patters they will choose
motifs which, when combined will create a sampler. which ones will be
chosen? how will it all fit together? the mystery will be solved in
the final chart which will be released in november 2008. but, you need all
six charts to make the bonus sampler and a diagram will be provided to show the
placement of all the different motifs...is this going to be fun or what???

window of hope - journey of an autistic child $7.50
i saved this one for last because it had the biggest impact on me at market.
catherine strickler has an autistic grandchild - skyler wayne...and yes, there
is a sampler named after him. this child has been totally turned around
based on a special diet that eliminates gluten & casein from the his
diet. to quote kate's daughter/skyler's mom "autism builds a wall
around children. they can't hear you, see you, or feel your love.
but there is a window in that wall and inside that window is a child needing
help to get out. grab that baby and pull him or her through that window,
kick those walls down."
this is a beautiful and simple sampler good for any child
with any disease. it uses the new dmc threads on white 28 count cashel.
we have ordered the threads and the linen and we are going to kit this up and
donate proceeds from this sale to a group who works with the families of
autistic children. the thread/fabric kit will be $24.00 and the chart is
$7.50. we hope you will join the strickler's and elegant stitch in making
a difference...
~ * ~ * ~ * ~
i'm finished my market report - yes, there are a few
stragglers that are sitting here that i can't post yet for some reason or
another...but i'll get that cleaned up by this weekend and add some more.
autos that were shipped before market that i can't get my hands on because they
are going to be arriving tomorrow when all the "held for us - we're
away" things will be delivered thru the front door.
there are other things too - things that we saw at market
that no matter how you describe them - words don't work 1/8th as well as a
picture - and it's far in advance and we've ordered them all and will have
them...but heavens - who can remember all of this...and it takes all the fun out
of a wonderful surprise when they actually arrive here.
there are also pictures on my camera and annie's camera...and
since today is her son's birthday...and she's actually here to enjoy it...those
pictures will have to wait until the next update too!!!
all in all it was a good market - albeit a much smaller
market. i am finished a market report in record time...because a lot of my
regular vendors were not there...and so...i am going to load up my car now - and
since the pod has been delivered to my driveway - we can start filling that up
in preparation for our move to our brand new shop the last week of february.
we have lots of work to do and lots of things that need some serious
organization...and i'm hoping that everything goes smoothly in the next couple
of weeks. we had a few bumps upon my arrival home - but thank heavens
bruce was around this week so he took care of the really ugly ones this morning
while i did this. so...damage control and off we go...and thank you for
coming to market with us...and keep checking back - we'll have more things put
up as they come in.
our thanks - and our best to you.
