OUT!! november 30, 2008 kelmscott designs - we've got angels. needleminders -
very cute - great holiday pressies. $9.00 each blue ribbon designs italian ornament collaboration book that's it...am spending days on this web site in december - cleaning up and tossing and then blogging around at the blogspot. off to the fabric store...am looking for some black fleece - have a very important project for my dogalas and some very good friend dogalas who live in fresno - just south of here. enjoy the rest of the weekend :) november 22, 2008 hard to believe that thursday is thanksgiving. can somebody find the rest of 2008 that i missed and ship it over to modesto. although i think i've been doing this for over 11 years (or ever since i put up this web site) - many have suggested that i do a blog...which i have done. http://elegantstitch.blogspot.com/ it's not perfect yet - far from it - and i'm in the process of tweeking during the quiet times and in the morning...when i'm not doing a million other things. the blog will make it easier to keep the website cleaner and more updated...and all the blah, blah, blah will be over there...and it's so much easier just to write from the fingers than fiddling with all the writing over here... so, pretty much effectively immediately - the what's new will be strictly for the incoming items and we'll update it immediately when we get the new things in the shop and i'll do the "blogging" first thing in the mornings after i ponder on my way into work in the mornings. with all that taken care of - here we go... needlemadedesigns little house needleworks blackbird designs - loose
feathers #33 HAPPY TURKEY DAY...off to work on my blog november 7, 2008 and...on my way over to get a framing issue straightened out this morning...i filled up for $2.27.9 and i haven't seen gas that cheap in at least 1.5 years...amazing - just amazing... we have a couple of new things and i'm doing a very quick run tonight because i have to get the little girl home. she's had a tremendous amount of company today and is quite worn out - and will become instantly invigorated as soon as she hits the door at home - there are big doggers at home that need her attention...quite the alpha female...and quite in charge of the house and all that live there. so...heading on out - and dealing with a short week next week because the shop will be closed on friday 11/14 and saturday 11/15 - i will make short work of this and away we go. needleprint - the goodhart samplers has been ordered and will be shipped in a couple of weeks. you can give it a look over at www.needleprint.com/books.html - it is quite beautiful and will have a lovely goodhart sampler inside the book jacket as they with with the quaker school girl samplers from ackworth. needleprint always does a beautiful job on their books and we are very excited to get it. the retail cost will be $85.00 (the shipping costs from the u.k. are horribly high - at almost $16.00 per book to get them here - so we've added $5.00 to the retail to help offset the shipping costs. liberty hill plum street samplers - i was
hoping to have these before spooky day - but it just didn't happen - but there
is always next spooky day and it's never to soon to start... workbasket and thus...it is the end of a very long week...and i'm taking ms. daisy and driving home. it gets sooooooooo very dark so very early these days...and we've had a run of cold weather here in the valley - cold for us so early in november...very cold for us... i'm heading out - i wish you all a great weekend - i can't believe it is getting close to the middle of november...i don't know where the year has gone or more is the point - how the year ran away and escaped without my realizing it. where did the time go?? i wish i knew. enjoy kicking leaves...it is truly a great fall activity...the doggers love to jump into the piles when i take them for walks. everybody at elegant stitch november 1, 2008 well, it's raining, it's saturday, gas is at $2.55.9 a gallon dropping from $4.75 in two months, we have an election on tuesday and we're going to have an election sale too!!! the puppy boys took a spin around the court last night in their lobster costumes...daisy went along between them both...biting down on the plush lobster claw and hanging on for dear life. then we used the "doorbell" and trick or treat as a good lesson in "wait" so all in all it was pretty good and they didn't go crazy and they learned something. finishing up the downstairs bathroom this weekend...we're using it - still need to do a little painting and finish up the cabinets - but if it continues to rain (which we desperately need and i am NOT complaining) then the old addage "boring as watching paint dry" might not be too far off. have some finishing to get done also and get those mailed back to their owners and then we slide right into thanksgiving which is late this year and then barrel right into the holidays. REMINDER - fall back tonight - day light savings ends tonight (thank heaven) so it will just be "regular dark" in the morning instead of "super dark". we are busy making arrangements for our april 2009 retreat - the information and retreat form is posted on the front page as is our "election day" sale which starts tuesday, november 4 and runs thru saturday close of business, november 8th. jimmy and vikki and angelina are on their way over from the bay area for a visit as we speak. i haven't seen the little girl yet...and i'm looking forward to it - and you can well imagine that her grammie is looking forward to seeing her. so...because i know you all have things to do - i'm going to get right to it... cricket collection shepherd's bush lizzie kate wendy's kc designs finally got this posted and printed for wendy - i also had my
color printer blow a fuse right before retreat started and printing this was
impossible... but we're ready now :) and so...small week but it's really hard to believe that this time a week ago we were in the middle of retreat. we all had a truly wonderful time...how quickly the time flies always just amazes us...jackie and i look at each other at the end and try to figure out how come everything moves at lightening speed during the weekends. we have done our post-retreat work and have put this one to bed - because believe it or not - april is just around the corner and then october and we have planned and gotten ideas for october 2010 too - and even ordered the fabrics so they don't go away and we miss them. please - everybody vote on tuesday - too important not to vote...something we take for granted and we shouldn't. turn the clocks back tonight and get another hour of stitching or sleeping or ironing or something...and we'll see you all sometime next week...and we thank you for visiting elegant stitch during your busy days. october 23, 2008 and of course it has warmed up - what a surprise...and there is still dust everywhere as the walnuts are now being harvested. we've all given up on the idea of clean cars and clean window sills and clean windows - what a joke that is. retreat starts tomorrow...we are dashing like wild women with hair on-fire...but we will have fun and if it isn't done - i'm not going to tell anybody it isn't done :) bathroom remodel is in the final stages...had a glitch with the tile and having just enough and then having to bust into the sides of bathtubs (already tiled) and then dry rot issues from a pin-point leak in the hot part of the water heater pipe down the back wall of our bathroom - couldn't finish the floors until the subfloor was replaced. i now know why i don't flip houses - can't do it and work another job too...but we are at the end of it all...and hopefully by this time next week - all that will be left is painting and finishing the cabinets (which are half done). in the interim - you can all only imagine what the house looks like...and the grit and the dust and the numerous boxes of bathroom things that seem to have grown like mushrooms in the dark... some progress - upstairs is totally done with just a few tweaky exceptions which i can take care of next week...but it's reasonable enough for our guest. because october is breast cancer awareness month...and because all of this craziness - i haven't gotten a chance to remind everybody about mammograms. i also haven't had a chance to ask you to go to www.armyofwomen.org and sign up. dr. susan love is truly a hero to those of us who have made the journey - writing books that explain procedures, calm, nurture and make it all understandable instead of the giant scary monster. they need healthy women, they need unhealthy women...they need us... please go there and read...she is a brilliant woman and has enlisted avon to help in her mission and i say - we have needed this and i pray she is a grand success. so....before we get underway here...i will get these new things up to share with you and then get to work as my guests arrive. needle delights originals fancy work - somehow i think i've seen this before but i just
loved it at st. charles and ordered more from jane. they came this week. just nan and last but not least and i am almost finished stitching
this and absolutely LOVE it... and was so excited when sharon told me she
was doing this... so...enjoy the week - we will be back in order next week...and i'll show you my newest purchase because i was very foolish - oh heck...i'll show you now... meet daisy buchanan - born 08/17 have a great weekend - the weather is going to be beautiful here and the leaves are turning and falling and gas is under $3.00 a gallon in the little town just south of us... october 11, 2008 it's cold here. annie and i are comparing cold hands...it flipped instantly into Fall this week...we haven't had the AC on in 2 days...i think winter is coming fast and swiftly...and gas is down below $3.40 and is going down more...and after yesterday's stock market - was that bottom? we are all hopeful that it was...and we can start rebuilding. although - in discussions with friends - there will be more peaks and valleys...and if we just all keep our wits about us and fight the constant urge to throw up or panic...can we all get thru this - i believe that we can...we just have to be smart, careful, wise and go easy into november 4th and the elections and january 20th and the new regime - whoever that is going to be... it's up to each of us and i really believe that keeping our wits about us is what counts the most here. we have news on the grammie front too!!! wait... it's 10:33 a.m. saturday and vikki's water just broke...annie is on the way to the hospital!!!!! come wednesday, october 15th, our annie is going to welcome angelina mae into the world. vikki is scheduled for a C section at 7:30 wednesday morning. the little girlie girl is feet first right now and doesn't seem to be too excited about changing positions...so they are going to go in and pluck her out before she decides on her own to make an appearance and turn out to be "wrong-way angie". annie is going over on tuesday evening after work and will meet them at the hospital early the next day. then annie is spending the 4 days before retreat over there helping...so we are all going to be scrambling and retreat is going to be interesting - but absolutely wonderful too. keep good thoughts that the little one and everybody concerned on wednesday please. bathroom update - top one is 5% off completion - i have to paint cabinets - this weekend and it's ready for guests. ours downstairs - not so much. i think it will be a bucket and a garden hose - we need our shower completed in two weeks - and i am painting walls so the electrician can hang fixtures and change out plugs and switches - that's a date for tomorrow in between a football game, ironing, finishing a few things at home, blah, blah, blah... now...on to the update part... and i moved the miles and miles of it to 3rd quarter 2008 (see the side bar) and i've redone the charity pages and i've also added my favorite things and i plan on adding to those pages too... lots of cleaning going on with this website...in preparation for a complete overhaul after the first of the year and all of that should be very interesting too :) i'm always up for a challenge... little house needleworks just nan historic stitches shepherd's bush deb bee's designs that's it...just in the nick...grandpapa is coming to pick up grammie to be and they are heading to the bay area to the hospital... i'm out of here...kay is coming to rescue me at 1:00 have a great week - we'll have a baby in a very little
